Mindful Eating, Welcome!
This is an 8 week course based on Dr. Jean Kristeller’s Mindfulness-Based Eating Awareness Training (MB-EAT).
Flexible Class Times
We are planning to start the 8 week course on Saturday, September 26th, 10:00 am & Monday afternoon at 5:30. Each week you can select which time is best for you.
We all eat, and we all eat mindlessly at times. But when this leads to painful and constant struggle over most meals and many foods, it may be time to consider other ways of relating to your eating, yourself, and the many, many food choices we face each day.
Mindful eating is simply another powerful way of relating to your experiences of food, your relationship to your body, and the joy that is possible in savouring your experiences. Then moving on to the many other parts of your life that eating nourishes and gives you energy for!
500 Calorie Challenge©
Rather than introducing a restrictive diet program of 1200 or 1400 calories, the 500 Calorie Challenge© asks everyone to find about 500 calories in their usual daily food intake to consider cutting out – permanently. The idea was to challenge participants to make a meaningful change in their eating habits to lead to weight loss, but one that was sustainable.
This may still seem like a lot, but spread over 3 meals and 2 snacks, it is only 100 calories at a time; or perhaps taking out three sodas during the day; or fewer second helpings. More nutrition guidance and exercise elements were also added, again from a mindfulness perspective.
